Is there a way to clean a grease gun altogether?

I clean my grease gun because I will change all of my firearms to synthetic Firearms are grease.These standard pump design (not engine air). Is there an easy way to clean the gun and hoses without polluting the fat again with the old stuff? $ 8 for a tube of synthetic fat, I'm trying to make sure I get my money's worth without losing.
