The word "light" has often been used as a symbolic gesture, as in "let the light" or light "my life". Light in this context is used to convey a comforting feeling. We all like to be in the light, while darkness gives the feeling of something hidden or not visible.
Like it or not, light plays an important role in all our lives. One, that we often take for granted.
