Dust: the murderer of the computer

There are those who will say that the dust is mainly composed of dead cells from human skin it's not a hundred percent certain, though doubtless there are plenty of human skin in the middle of the pile of dust.

Dust particles vary in size as large as a few hundred microns to few micrometers, larger particles tend to fall and stick to surfaces, while the smallest tend to stay in the air. Dust particles can contain anything, in amounts varying from skin cells, fluids (water or oil), raw organic, minerals, metals and a host of chemicals. Everything depends on the surrounding environment.

In a normal office environment, where dust often be minimized (unless it is a day of cleaning in a day), problems associated with dust are usually kept to a minimum. However, in some environments of large amounts of dust can be generated by processes such as cutting, grinding, polishing and cutting.

This amount of dust that may have unintended consequences. The dust may have serious health effects of asthma and allergies cause the most severe bronchial and lung problems. Employees who have to work in dusty environments by course should be offered adequate protection, such as dust masks, or even re-breathers.

But have you ever thought what effect may have dust on electrical equipment and appliances? Like us, computers need to breathe. Dust can clog the filters and prevent air from flowing through the computer and causing it to overheat. The powder also acts as an insulator that can add to the accumulation of heat.

Dust can also cause a short circuit in circuit boards and integrated circuits for computers causing accidents and in some cases, even catch fire!

Dust may also block some of mobile computers parts such as disk drives and even block USB ports and interfaces.

Fortunately there are a multitude of ways to eliminate and reduce dust. Protective covers can be used as a temporary method, but cheap for refusing dust particles. Alternatively computer specialist powder test are made but these are expensive and must be replaced every time that TI is updated.

However, for a more permanent approach and flexible to protect computer equipment from dust is to use a computer specialist enclosure. Enclosures can accommodate existing equipment, protecting them from dust, but with the added advantage of allowing to replace or upgrade their IT, while maintaining the same compounds also can protect your equipment against fire and impact.

The dust is responsible for millions of hours of IT downtime each year, do not miss you, to protect their computer equipment and that both can breathe easy!
