Powder Coating: The early development and its relationship to the environment

The earliest forms of Coating "> powder coating have existed since the 1950s and were born from the insatiable appetite of States United for motor vehicles. The ongoing rationalization of the sub-contract to provide network led manufacturers to seek the "holy grail" of the jacket a finishing system. This, together with the first signs of pressure groups of the environment, has led to powder coating as we know it today, that can be described as "solid painting."
The advantages over established systems of traditional enamel spray were speed of implementation and the continuous search a high performance coating process. Instead of the traditional recorded the first and possibly two layers of top coat, powder coating can do all this in a single operation, but had limitations.
Some of the earliest examples of plastic or powder coating were simply placing the preheated component in the dust bowl or cellular fluid. The powder was placed in a container on top of a thin membrane and then a controlled amount of compressed air passes through membrane. The powder is boiled and doubled in volume and heating components were placed in the liquid bubbling for the time determined by the thickness of finish is required and the amount of sinking the component instead. This powder coating was at its most simple and offers little or no performance or aesthetic qualities, but instead offered the advantage of speed and, in turn, cost savings.
Application equipment was developed from immersion powder for powder spraying equipment and basic implementation of the 1960 and 1970 has already led us to the state of art equipment we recognize today. The same three key parts of the process, however, remain as relevant now as they were then: these are (a) pretreatment, (b) implementation and (c) curing of the components. These three elements key process will be discussed in future articles, along with the environmental problems associated with the industrial powder coating.
