Softness and comfort will emphasize choosing the right course. The suspension components are usually responsible for such features. Often, the shock takes this task. Concerned to improve the quality of driving, the cushion is designed to reduce the sense of increasingly bouncy the vehicle passes a bumpy road. This is done by spreading the impact energy to prevent shivering the entire vehicle to collide against sudden jolts.

A buffer also contributes to handling car as it keeps the vehicle easy to maneuver. Apart from making the occupants of the vehicle comfortable, but also affects the braking system. With a defective shock absorber, brakes did not respond immediately, possibly endangering passengers. Drivers can not stop the vehicle a few meters just to avoid the likelihood of collisions. To avoid this, proper maintenance of the buffer that is needed.

There are three types of shock absorbers today: gas, liquid, and cover the coil. Fluid is designed to give a soft ride, while the gas is considered one of the main types of crashes. Coil cover, on the other hand, are rigid, but actually absorb unexpected shocks. The type of shock varies depending on the performance of a motorist wants.

The most common problem of dampers is running out. Symptoms include wheel vibration direction, deviates from cars in a crosswind, excessive bouncing on rough surfaces, oil leaks of blows, nose dive in braking, excessive leans or sways in corners, uneven tire wear, and dented or damaged houses. If any of these signs are detected, it is recommended to immediately inspect the pads to avoid problems. Otherwise, the inability to stay out of danger or vehicle stability affected in cases of emergency maneuvers may be present. A driver can also determine if the dampers are defective through a self-inspection called "bounce test." The front bumper has to be brought to the floor as low as possible and then let go. If the vehicle bounces into place quickly, no need for concern. But once the front of the car bounces up and down more than twice before being put in place, the shocks are considered problematic.
